This product by UNDP’s Regional Innovation Team and the Behavioural Insights Team reviews existing evidence around the interplay between structural and behavioural barriers & enablers to youth entrepreneurship in the Arab States. It highlights approaches that would merit further testing in the region, such as personal initiative training or correcting misperceived social norms. The evidence review has been used by 10 UNDP Country Offices in the region to conduct further research on the ground, with a view to testing the effectiveness of behavioural solutions. This knowledge product by UNDP’s Regional Innovation Team and Nudge Lebanon provides step-by-step suggestions for practitioners who are looking for ways to make use of findings from the behavioural sciences to address violent extremism. The toolkit is based on UNDP’s experiences applying behavioural methods to strengthen the effectiveness of PVE projects in Sudan and Yemen, namely by encouraging attendance in psychosocial support sessions and intervening through the prison education system to prevent recruitment and recidivism.
UNDP Arab States launched the second round of the Women Innovators Programme (WIP) at the Mobile World Congress 2022 on 28 February. A partnership with GSMA, the global mobile operators’ association and its start-up platform 4YFN (Four Years From Now), WIP connects women-led, digital, social impact start-ups from the Arab States region with international business experts and investors from 4YFN’s global networks.
